Records are a luxury. You’ll never collect them all, nor could you hear it all — there’s just too much out there!
There are truths to records: they get dusty, dirty and rendered useless when left in the sun. You worry about them when moving and take care that they don’t get damaged, lost or stolen*. They lose value when you open them and they’re also generally more expensive than CDs when bought new (though most new records now come with digital downloads).
So why bother with pressing or purchasing vinyl records in the Great Age of Technology? My answer is simple: Music makes us happy and records preserve that music.
